DPC Demands Fresh Election in Kogi

Lokoja - One of the political parties that participated in the inconclusive Kogi State governorship election, the Democratic People’s Congress (DPC) has called for a fresh governorship election, reports Peoples Daily.
The party rejected the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC’s) position to continue the November 21 poll by conducting a supplementary election for 91 polling units on December 5, 2015.

In a statement signed by its National Chairman, Olusegun Peters, the party said it was inappropriate for INEC to direct the All Progressives Congress (APC) to choose another candidate to substitute the late Abubakar Audu.
The party noted that it was wrong for the commission to go ahead with the supplementary election when the people voted for the candidacy of Audu and not the yet to be selected candidate .
The party said it will oppose an alleged attempt by INEC and the APC to impose a candidate on the people of the state in violation of democratic ideals.
